Monday 1st December 1938
Marked the seventieth anniversary of the first train carrying Jewish children away from Nazi persecution to leave Berlin.
Quakers, who played a key role in this evacuation, commemorated this anniversary at Friends House in London, bringing together survivors and families who cared for the children.
Quakers accompanied children on the long journey to safety
and many families and Quaker schools provided homes.
Their stories are in ‘I came alone’, the stories of the kindertransports’ Originally published in 1990, this list was taken from the fourth paperback edition 2007 where the stories can be read. The page number is shown after their name. Many names shown differ from that used on the kindertransport due to marriage and name change. |
